Job description: TITLE: Engineering Supervisor

DUTIES: Nexteer Automotive Corporation seeks an Engineering Supervisor based out of our office at 1272 Doris Road, Auburn Hill, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position does not require travel.

Responsible for supervising a team of engineers responsible for motor drives and electrical hardware; recruiting new engineers to the team to meet staffing requirements; setting goals for individuals to meet team, department, and company objectives; providing performance feedback to team members on a regular basis; conducting formal performance reviews for each team member annually; providing technical leadership for projects incorporating complex electromechanical (“Mechatronic”) systems and control; creating and maintaining motor control and future electronic hardware technology development roadmap; being responsible for motor control system analysis, modeling, and design for electric drive products; being responsible for electrical hardware schematic generation, analysis, design, and prototyping; staying abreast of new technology and recent developments/trends in the Research and Academic arena relative to both motion control techniques and new electrical hardware applications; coordinating appropriate research activities with external sources; verifying and calibrating motor control characteristics, diagnosing and correcting deficiencies in designs/prototypes, and testing/validating performance requirements of both motor control system and electrical hardware products; designing and optimizing simultaneous system performance goals through requirements flow down; effectively integrating all aspects of a design through multi-disciplinary engineering; and recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating resources relative to job performance, team goals, and staffing levels.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in . Experience must include: experience with motor control theory; experience conducting design and analysis of modern motor control systems; experience with electrical hardware design and prototyping processes; experience with simulation tools, including Matlab; experience with automotive engineering and chassis systems including steering, braking, and suspension; and experience with system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques.
